I call myself a “scientific software engineer” and I’ve done work from mapping satellite observations of smoke from Siberian wildfires to assembling pipelines for Hubble data to building a modern web application. I used to work at the Space Telescope Science Institute where I worked on Python and C projects that support Hubble science. Before that I worked at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center where I wrote Python software to support atmospheric science research. I have degrees in aerospace engineering and astronomy.

I volunteer with Software Carpentry teaching Python and computing skills to scientists, engineers, and anyone else who will listen.
